ROBINSON AUTHORIZEDR44 SPECIALTYSHEET 01/09

Robinson R44 service. Inspected, balanced, and signed off here.

Alpha Company Aviation is listed by Robinson as an Authorized Service Center (R44) in Venice. We're staffed and tooled for the Raven I, Raven II, Clipper and Cadet. This page covers the airframe one system at a time: by part, by lifecycle hour, and by the work the factory trained us to do.

§01AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER

What that means in practice

An audited designation.
Verify it yourself.

Robinson Helicopter Company publishes a directory of authorized service centers worldwide. Alpha Company Aviation is in that directory and you can verify it at robinsonheli.com (opens in new tab) under Service Centers. The designation means the shop, the technicians and the documented procedures meet Robinson's audited standards. The factory grants it only after that audit. We're authorized on the R44 specifically through Robinson. If you fly another helicopter, call us and we'll tell you whether we can help.

In a Robinson airframe the consequences of guesswork run higher than in a fixed-wing. The two-blade teetering rotor, the dynamic component overhaul schedule, the Safety Notice cadence Robinson maintains, the fuel-system bladder calendar limits and the Lycoming O-540 / IO-540 idiosyncrasies all reward a technician who knows these airframes. The sections below take the R44 apart, one system at a time. The full services catalog covers everything else we do on fixed-wing aircraft, and the drop-off process is the same for an R44 as it is for any other airframe we touch.

§02ANATOMY

By part. By system.

The work, broken outairframe-wide.

01Main rotor system

Track, balance, and blade hours.

The two-blade teetering rotor is the signature Robinson system. We track blade hours against published service lives, run track-and-balance on the main rotor, and address vibration squawks rather than normalizing them. Pitch link adjustments and blade tip weights follow Robinson's published specifications.

02Mast and hub

Inspected at every 100-hour.

Mast condition checks, swashplate inspection, and pitch link inspection are part of every 100-hour. The hub is overhauled on the schedule Robinson publishes. We track the mast against the calendar limit and the overhaul interval, whichever comes first.

03Lycoming O-540 / IO-540 powerplant

Cylinders, timing, magnetos.

Cylinder work, ignition timing, magneto inspection, oil cooler service, intake and exhaust work. Top overhauls and majors are referred to a powerplant overhaul shop and reinstalled here. The schedule follows Robinson Service Bulletins and the relevant Lycoming (opens in new tab) service letters.

04Drive belt and sheave

V-belt life, watched.

The drive belts and the V-belt sheave have calendar and hour limits Robinson sets. We track them by part serial number against your airframe. Replacement is done on-condition or on-schedule, whichever lands first.

05Tail rotor

Anti-torque, balanced.

Tail rotor blade condition, hub bearings, pitch links, drive shaft, gearbox oil. Tail rotor balance is part of the dynamic balancing service we do on the same visit as the main rotor.

06Fuel system

Bladders, hoses, calendar limits.

Robinson fuel bladders have published calendar limits regardless of hours flown. Hoses are inspected and replaced on Robinson's interval. We track these against your specific airframe and tell you what is coming due at every inspection.

07Cabin and skids

The pieces customers touch.

Door latches, seat belts, skid shoes, cabin glass, basic interior fitment. These are the parts an owner and passengers touch on every flight, and squawks here are addressed at every inspection.

§03LIFECYCLE

12 years or 2,200 hours

Whichevercomes first.

Every R44 in service is on a calendar-and-hour clock toward mandatory overhaul. Slide the control to see where any airframe sits on that clock. We schedule, coordinate, and reinstall around the work the factory or a Robinson-recommended overhaul shop does on the back end.

§04FACTORY CHAIN

Parts pipeline

Robinson to airframe,tracked by serial.

  1. 01

    Robinson factory.

Parts manufactured to spec at the factory in Torrance, California.

  2. 02

    Authorized parts pipeline.

Distributed exclusively through Robinson's authorized parts network. Track-and-trace by part and serial.

  3. 03

    Our hangar.

Received, inspected, logged against your airframe by serial. Verify us in the directory (opens in new tab).

  4. 04

    Installed in your R44.

Old serial off, new serial on, complete logbook entry. Read what owners say on Google.

§05DYNAMIC BALANCING

Main and tail rotor

Vibration, measuredand resolved.

A new vibration in an R44 is a measurable signal. We capture it with accelerometers on the ground and in flight, then resolve it with pitch links, tip weights, and blade adjustments to Robinson's specification.

Owners commonly tell us a previous shop told them to fly through it. We don't do that. The job is finished when you fly the airframe and tell us it feels right.

Frequently asked

R44 questions
owners ask us first.

Straight answers on Robinson R44 service. If yours is not here, call (941) 661-7865 and we will answer it on the spot.

Are you an authorized Robinson R44 Service Center?

Yes. Alpha Company Aviation appears in Robinson's published service center directory at robinsonheli.com. We service Raven I, Raven II, Clipper and Cadet airframes.

Do you handle the 12-year or 2,200-hour overhaul?

We schedule and coordinate the 12-year and 2,200-hour overhaul. Major overhaul work requiring factory facilities is sent to Robinson or a Robinson-recommended overhaul shop and reinstalled by us.

Where do you service R44s?

Robinson's service-center directory lists our Venice base, KVNC (Venice Municipal Airport). Call the office at (941) 375-9727 to schedule.

Can you do dynamic balancing?

Yes. Main and tail rotor dynamic balancing is part of regular shop work. Vibration squawks get diagnosed and balanced rather than ignored.

Do you handle Robinson Service Bulletin and AD compliance?

Yes. We sign off Service Bulletin and AD compliance only when the work has actually been completed and verified, and we track open Service Bulletins and ADs against your airframe at every inspection.
